How can Technology Support My teaching and Learning

The role of technology in classroom cannot be ignored specially computers and the internet. There are many ways that technology supports my teaching and students' learning.  The following points demonstrate how technology can support my beliefs about teaching and learning:

Technology supports teaching

The use of computers in my teaching has made learning more interesting. The lessons run smoothly with all students engaged in learning. Here are some ways that I use technology to support my teaching:

1-      Use of powerpoint as a way to break the daily routine

2-      Use of prezi to create an interactive lesson instead of the use of the book

3-      Download some readymade presentations from slideshare specially for grammar lessons

4-      Use of YouTube videos as a warm up activity or lead in activity

5-      Use of interactive board

6-      Use of blog to upload some videos for students , teachers and parents

7-      Upload students' work to be shared globally with other students

8-      Download some resources for the lessons like worksheets

Technology supports my learning

 Online degrees and training courses have led to spread of education. Today, people can continue learning even while managing their jobs, because online education gives them the flexibility to do so. I joined some online courses such as Building teaching skills through interactive web, TKT, Shaping the way we teach English and some other courses. I was able to study from my own space comfortably and manage my time accordingly.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that each child is unique and that children learn in different ways. Every classroom presents a unique community of learners that varies in abilities and learning styles. Teachers must be aware of different learning styles of their learners in order to meet their needs effectively. 

In my point of view when a teacher and the students are on the same page, they will start to understand each other. Thus learning and teaching will be easier. I support the idea that building a positive rapport with students is essential for trust to be gained and thus, learning to thrive.

 Our world is being influenced by technology and I believe it is crucial to use that technology to improve educational strategies. One excellent way to engage students in the classroom and create real world connections is to utilize technology and maintain one’s current knowledge as a teacher. Today, students are constantly enveloped in technology. Technology becomes a significant art of students' life. They are constantly using at every moment such as in texting, instant messaging, exchanging e-mail, surfing facebook, Instagram. What better way to teach someone than to speak in their language. Using technology in the classroom spawns student interest and connects lessons to their everyday lives. Teachers need to stay informed and current in their knowledge of technology as they do their content area.

I believe in the saying " Learning never stop".  In my point of view the best teachers are those that never stop learning and continue striving to improve. It is important to realize that teaching is full of surprises and new situations and one must be ready to adapt, react and discover new strategies.

In the future as a teacher, I will continue to increase my knowledge about using and integrating technology in the classroom. Moreover, I will keep current with new innovations in order to provide the most successful learning environment for my students.
